The English-Speaking Union Strasbourg

Creating international understanding through English

The English-Speaking Union (ESU) Strasbourg was founded in 2000 and is closely linked with the ESU headquarters in London.  With its network of groups in more than 50 countries, the ESU was established in 1918 to promote understanding and friendship among people from different countries through the use of English. In keeping with this goal, ESU Strasbourg programs include:

§         dinner events covering a broad range of topics

§         cultural visits to places of interest in Alsace

§         participation in ESU International Summer Conferences

§         sponsoring students at local ESU dinner events

§         yearly donation to the Asere Hawariat school in Addis Ababa

Other projects include participation in ESU international public speaking competitions, international youth exchange and work experience schemes, the International Relations Program at Oxford, the Shakespeare Globe Theatre Cultural Seminar and exchange visits with other ESU branches.
