The English-Speaking Union (ESU) Strasbourg
was
founded in 2000 and is closely linked with the ESU headquarters in London.
With its network of groups in more than 50 countries, the ESU was
established in 1918 to promote understanding and friendship among people
from different countries through the use of English. In keeping with this
goal, ESU Strasbourg programs include:

dinner
events covering a broad range of topics
§
cultural
visits to places of interest in Alsace
§
participation
in ESU International Summer Conferences
§
sponsoring
students at local ESU dinner events
§
yearly
donation to the Asere Hawariat school in Addis Ababa
Other projects include
participation in ESU international public speaking competitions,
international youth exchange and work experience schemes, the
International Relations Program at Oxford,
the Shakespeare Globe Theatre Cultural Seminar and exchange visits with
other ESU branches.
