Public transportation in Strasbourg is excellent.  A system of city busses, trams, and regional busses makes it possible to get around very well without a car.  For those choosing to travel by car, the roads are good but often very congested.  Parking is often difficult in the center of town and the parking garages although numerous often appear to present extraordinarily tight quarters to English speakers from land-rich countries like Australia, Canada, and the United States. Numerous car rental agencies exist and the city participates in a creative system of automobile sharing known locally as Auto'trement (roughly conveying the idea of "automobiles otherwise" in which subscribers can reserve cars for errands or short trips from anywhere from one hour to several days.

For longer distance travel, Strasbourg has excellent train service and a local airport.  Three other "nearby" airports are also used by many local residents seeking a wider range of airlines or prices.
